COVID-19 Vaccination for Children Aged 12-18

Getting vaccinated is vital to build our immunity against COVID-19, reduce mortality and infection rates, and get back to our normal lives. Although the current COVID-19 vaccination priority of healthcare organizations is the frontliners, those with comorbidities, and seniors, it is just wise to vaccinate your children as well.

Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, WHO Chief Scientist, stated that children are at a much lower risk of getting the severe disease compared to older adults. However, she also stated that there are also children who are at higher risk for COVID-19 infection due to vulnerabilities, illnesses, and comorbidities. That is why COVID-19 vaccinations for children are now available at some pharmacies in the US.

Quick N Save Pharmacy is one of the pharmacies that now provides a COVID vaccine for children aged 12 to 18 and COVID testing in Florida. These vaccines have undergone proper and extensive safety and efficacy testing and are continuously checked as it continues to roll out through pharmacovigilance programs and existing adverse event reporting systems.

The available vaccines for children include:

  • Pfizer vaccine (age 12+)
  • Moderna vaccine (age 18+)
  • Johnson & Johnson (age 18+)

WHO’s Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adnahom Ghebreyesus, encourages us to join in this massive global effort to vaccinate at least 10% of the population of all countries by September and at least 30% by the end of the year.
